We noticed that there have been rumours and uncertainties about the Zouk Congress taking place in Berlin in June 2013. As many people were asking about what is going on and what to expect from the Congress, we would like to clarify the situation a bit.
The former organisation team of the International Zouk Congress Berlin (2010, 2011 and 2012) decided to work separately in the future in order to follow their differing ideas, ideals and understandings of a Zouk-Event. Ailton Silva, who has been part of the organisation and primarily has been responsible for the artist communication is now organising a congress by himself. What you can expect is “a” Zouk Congress taking place in Berlin not “the” 4th International Zouk Congress Berlin. There has not been an agreement about the name yet.
In fact the congress 2013 will be a new congress planned almost from scratch. The core team of Zouk Berlin with their experience of three year’s organisation is not involved in the currently promoted congress.
Information about the congress organized by Ailton Silva cannot be found under the official Zouk Berlin Congress website, but at http://berlinzoukcongress.blogspot.de/
With this we hope to clarify possible misunderstandings and wish everyone all the best.
Jan and team
After careful consideration we decided not to organize the 4th International Zouk Congress Berlin in 2013. After three consecutive years of hard work, passion and joy, we decided to take a break in 2013. Many congresses are taking place in Europe recently. We observe the trend that the numbers of congresses and festivals in Europe increase very fast, which makes it hard for dancers to decide where to go and for organizers to sustain, economically and by their gained standards. Nevertheless we hope that the Zouk scene will continue to grow substantially. We will take part in supporting this growth and wish everyone a joyful new Zouk year.
Jan and the Zouk Berlin Team
Note: Ailton Silva is separately planning something by himself. We wish him good luck for his future endeavours.
Thanks a lot for the numerous and profound feedback. We will try to incorporate as much as possbile for the planning of next year. The winner of the Dubai full pass is Aline Groeneveld. Congratulations!!!
